Into the Woods Dates Set for Theatre Guild

The story line of “Into the Woods” involves many well known and loved fairy tale characters, giving it great familiarity.  The characters of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel get all mixed together as their journeys take them far into the woods in their quest for “happy ever after”.  There are messages regarding loyalty, honesty and the need for strong family and community bonds woven throughout the wonderfully crafted lyrics and story.

Auditions are scheduled for December 1st from 6 – 9 pm and December 2nd from 12 – 3 pm with call backs on December 5th at 6 pm all in OHS rooms 505 and 506.  The part of Little Red Riding Hood will require a talented girl (age 12 and up) while all other parts are suitable for adults and HS students.  Auditions will consist of singing a prepared song, learning songs from the show and reading from the script.  There is a copy of the Into the Woods video available from the library and Dierker is also willing to let interested individuals borrow his own DVD or CD.

The OTG is also looking for a strong support network of community members for this show.  Openings include Producer (organization and delegation of main responsibilities), Publicity Lead (get the word out in area), Dinner Theatre Manager (plan and organize dinner theatre), Stage Manager (work with set design, building and coordinate set changes, etc.), Lighting Lead (lighting design and coordination).  If you have ANY desire to get involved, come to the November OTG meeting at Todd Dierker’s house, 689 S. 3rd,  Nov. 16th at 6:30 or call Dierker at 488-3413.  Details for all upcoming events as well as photos from old shows can be found at www.othellotheatreguild.org
